Michelle Morelan from A Schematic Life, Nancy DeVries and I started our trip to Seattle with a little shopping at the outlets until we got downtown and checked into the Hotel Max. A great, artistic little hotel with a W feel.
It’s rare to see the analogous colour combination of red and orange together in the same space but paired with the charcoal tones, it worked very well.
Check out the doors in the hallways, and the great striped carpeting! One of the most interesting hotel hallways I’ve seen!
This was the sushi restaurant attached to the hotel also done in red.
The next day we arrived at the Seattle Design Center where we attended a course led by Mary Knackstedt. Michelle did a great re-cap of the course, click here for the details. Then we toured the center and I snapped some photos so you can feel like you were there with me!!

Everything looks better on a square acrylic pedestal, like this great piece of periwinkle blue coral!
There was clearly a coral theme in this showroom!
I liked the velvet and leather combination on this sofa.

Conran Window Coverings, don’t they look wonderful?
The showroom for Ebanista is so beautiful, they have wonderful artwork, gorgeous lighting. . .
And they always display their rugs in a creative way. Last time I was in their showroom, they were placed at the end of each bed like a throw.
