“My life now is like going through the closet into Narnia, I opened the door and walked into this magical place.”
Catherine was interviewed by Style-at-Home Magazine years ago soon after she got together with Michael Douglas and that is what she said about being with him. I just thought I could look at life that way too [it doesn’t have to be about having millions]. So I’m sharing it with you, along with their house in Bermuda.
This is their home in Bermuda decorated by Stephen Ryan and featured in Architectural Digest in 2002.
They were looking for a house in the country until they realized that Bermuda was only a 90 minute flight from New York and since Michael has 70 family members there, it was the perfect spot!
I know she says this dining room is red but it sure looks more like Benjamin Moore’s ‘Crushed Velvet’ instead, which is a dark fuscia.
Michael says his mother’s family has been on the island since 1610 and he celebrated his first birthday there.
I have been in Bermuda once, years ago with a friend, the sand really is pink and the houses painted the most wonderful colours!
Here are some more images of Stephen’s work from his website:
Stephen Ryan’s signature colours seem to be red, orange and pink. Even his logo is red and orange. The colour of passion, strength and courage [red] and fun-loving, intuitive and playful[orange].
