Blending the Lines, (Of Design Styles)

A High Point Market Countdown ~ “Details in Design” ~ #5
As I am about to embark on the first day of the High Point Market – Spring Season 2010, I thought it would be a worthwhile read to see what the industry is predicting, in terms of interior fashion trends.  These are the true “insiders” as they develop product to be previewed by the world of:  interior designers, retailers, editors, design press, and any other trade connected guest who will be dropping into town for the next week.  Here is the link to the report:  High Point Market Trends – 2010

My take away, from the report, is how we’ll see a strong emphasis on color – and the psychology of what it does to lift our spirits.  We’ll also witness an even greater focus on eco-friendly products – sustainable and of reclaimed/recycled origins.  There will be some interest in mixing varied finishes.  Painting will be big . . . based on color trends, and texture will be important.  Special details, such as tufting, and applications of nailhead and trims, (even to more transitional designs), will reflect a desire to “bejewel” and enhance plainer pieces.  Feathering the nest is even more important, as people are still staying close to the security and comfort of home.
