One of my lovely readers sent me an email suggesting I do a post on pink as a reminder to everyone that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

A client called me last week to pick a new colour for her guest room (one of her daughters had just moved out). She had some art with kelly green leaves in it to use as inspiration. At first she seemed overwhelmed with the whole idea of doing anything but painting the room but after we discussed furniture placement she said “Well if all I need is a chair and 2 end tables in here (with a wall of closet space she didn’t need a dresser) with some drapery then put something together for me! I must have had pink on my brain because last night I went by her place (she lives close to me) and presented her with this combination and she loved it!
Fabrics from Robert Allen (I love them all here in Vancouver, the service is so amazing and they even read my blog! Thanks Grace, Leila and Russel!
The linen sample on the upper right (is a perfect match to the linen colour in the modern bamboo print on the lower right) will be the bedskirt, the bamboo print; queen pillow shams, the pink and yellow stripe are railroaded which means it will be a horizontal drapery treatment (my fav) and the solid hot pink fabric will be European shams. We'll do a white duvet cover (I’m not a shiny polyester bedding person) and I have already bought a fabulous kelly green chair (with black arms) and 2 black matching end tables to go with all of it!
Remember my post “Warning, you are the colours in your home”? Well I looked up these two colours in my Aurasoma Sourcebook and here is what this combination means:
This bottle is called The Wanderer. Letting go of what is behind us to come into the moment enables us to see or to feel something is in front of us that holds the promise that lies within our heart. The possibility of having the direction and trust to find the love within ourselves.
To feel at home wherever we are. Caring that is given the space to expand.
(Green means space and freedom, pink is unconditional Love)
Perfect colours for a guest room don’t you think?
And this little angel was sent to me along with a pile of other photos headlined “Tired”. That’s me tonight after my long and busy week!
Have a Happy Weekend!
