I have a confession. I am so tired of looking at my empty walls and (as you know) the perfect piece of art takes time to find so when I was making my weekly rounds at Homesense last week I came across this one for $140 (marked down from $299). Well how could I resist? Until I find the alternative to the $12,000 piece that I want from Bobbie Burgers, this will be a place holder.
And my dining chairs are finished—aren’t they fabulous? I love them! Here they were before at the consignment store where I bought them:
And here is the after (below). I covered them with Sunbrella faux leather from Maxwell Fabrics; Pattern; Expose Colour #50 Daffodil (available to the trade only). Apparently this fabric is so durable that if your child got art happy with a felt pen it would wipe right off, and it can be used outdoors as well! Then I couldn’t decide on what to do on the back so I did 3 in polka dots and 3 in stripes (below) fabric from Robert Allen.
When they arrived (I'm not a big DIY designer, so my workroom stripped, painted and re-covered them) I decided I liked the stripes the best but I also adore polka dots and I can totally mix them up around the table depending on what I want to look at anyway! Which one do you like the best?
What I love about these chairs is they look sexy just sitting there all by themselves. I covered the fronts of the backs in a white (which reads a little grayed on the chair but I like the whites mixed) ribbed Sunbrella fabric from Robert Allen. Next I need to find a dining table and sideboard, I’ve been looking but haven’t found anything I like for what I want to pay.

Thank you to all who participated in last weeks linky party on Affordable Art. Grace from Sense and Simplicity posted her photography and she is having a fundraiser for her trip to Bangladesh next summer to teach speech therapy. She is selling her stunning photos to help raise money for this trip. I love this one, click here to see all of them:

Please join my linky party if you have an inspired (and inexpensive) art project on your blog or for this week you could include a post about YOUR placeholder and what you envision to replace it when you find the right piece. Next week I might post your idea or your artwork! If you are an artist, please include a post from your blog with the price. And link back to this post so everyone’s inspired ideas get read!
