Friday is the opening ceremonies and although a lot of people left town thinking the influx of people and traffic would be too inconvenient (and I originally thought that should have been me too--on a beach somewhere) I’m happy to be here, the city is all decked out and there’s lots of exciting free events happening around town which I’ll be checking out as well!
The Boston Globe flickr Downtown view of Vancouver across False Creek from the Athletes Village for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
I’m not going to an event because I’m way to much of a princess to stand in line to take transit, to stand in line again, only to battle the crowds again on the way home. . . Give me a helicopter and fly me to the top of the building and a box and I’ll happily go (I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that, but I have a low tolerance for being uncomfortable!), otherwise, I’m happy to feel the excitement, walk around the city and watch it on TV!
We believe we’ll get a gold for the first time on our soil!! Go Canada!
