I only remember enjoying dating when I was in my late teens and early 20’s. After that, it was only fun when I was dating ‘the one’. You know, the one you end up with, even if it’s just for a little while. Otherwise my experience of dating was just like Rene Zellweger said in Jerry Maguire “All of them ran a distant second to a good book and a warm bath”.
Shopping for furniture can be very close to dating, it's only fun when you find ‘the one’, the piece (or 2 or 3) that makes you happy because you know it’s perfect, especially when it’s at a price point you want to pay. Accessory shopping is so much easier but you can’t really shop for accessories until the big pieces are installed.
So here’s my confession, I did not find the one in Seattle, mostly because I booked too many consultations and ran out of quality shopping time :) Oops. And it doesn’t help that I don’t know Seattle that well and hadn’t really mapped out a plan of where to go in advance. Got some cute summer clothes downtown and some great napkin rings and martini glasses at Crate & Barrel and that’s about it!
By the way all of you husbands out there that think your wife is ‘having fun’ shopping to finish decorating the house, I have a newsflash for you; it’s not always like that. Sometimes it’s frustrating and downright depressing—when you end up finding nothing. That’s when you start thinking maybe you’re not creative at all, maybe you should hire a designer because it’s never going to get finished. We [designers] think that way too, but mostly when it comes to our own house!
I have a fun consultation I’m going to share with you though, stay tuned!
