I once tried to convince a client to do a four chair grouping because she essentially had two living rooms within one large space and I thought this was a great solution to have various seating options and it was right in front of a large fireplace. She didn't go for it. But I just think she couldn't envision it in the space. Well about a year later I went in her house and guess what she had...a four chair grouping in front of the fireplace. The moral of this story? I am always right. (kidding, sorta)

I haven't seen my living room all week. I miss it. I am hoping to get some quality time in with my long lost friend over the weekend. If fact, if you can't find me, I will probably be in "sofa city sweetheart." Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend yourself!

Brrr!

It is cold here in Charleston today folks! And as I sit here in my office all bundled up wearing my cheap knock-off Uggs and obtaining warmth from my sad little space heater I really wish I was curled up in front of one of these amazing fires instead. Although I am not a big "cold weather" person, I am excited for the change in temperatures because it reminds me of football games, oyster roasts and hiking all the mountains in Mt. Pleasant (she says sarcastically). And I look forward to making many o' fires because as much as these new, fancy remote controlled things are...there is nothing like an actual wood burning fireplace! Yeah, I'm old school like that.

Driftwood

I love finding driftwood on the beach! I wonder what its story is- did it come from a broken down dock, or an old shipwreck or perhaps petrified tree from far away? In some areas, driftwood is so plentiful that it can be a nuisance but in actuality, it provides nutrients when decomposed, shelter for wildlife and oftentimes forms the base of sand dunes. Each piece is so unique with its knots and gnarls. Some are bleached out from time in the salt and sun. Regardless or its origin, the sculptural quality of driftwood truly makes it a work of art. Designers have been using driftwood in interiors for years and recently manufactures jumped on board creating lamps, mirrors and furniture out of this natural beauty.
