Why blogging is good for your Career

This is a rendering Michelle Morelan from A Schematic Life just whipped up from my “Colours of Provence” post the other day. I love how she called it “Maria’s Villa”. It was the one I stayed in during my visit to France two years ago. Michelle is a friend I have met through blogging, she is also an extremely talented artist and designer.

If you are reading this and still thinking about starting a blog, this is one reason why you should. Suddenly you are part of a local as well as international community of bloggers. You get to meet and hang with other talented individuals in your industry, that’s the really exciting part. If you are still wondering if the time and effort is worth it, read this article I came across the other day. If that doesn’t sell you, nothing else will. I spent hours reading this blog when I found it. This woman is brilliant!

The other thing blogging does is greatly improve your writing skills. I just wrote an article for a magazine to be published in April (that I’m getting paid to write by the way—because of this blog) and in the past I would have edited it (with my partner who is a writer) a million times before I would have sent it to ANYONE. This time, I wrote it, emailed it, she [the editor] tweaked it a bit, and it’s good to go. That would NEVER have happened in the past. Prior to starting this blog! Still not convinced? Read this one too.

Thanks Michelle for the beautiful drawing and for the mention!
