Happiness is. . . Light

Sometimes I walk into a client’s home during the day, and it’s dark; either surrounded by trees or perhaps north facing (and they start talking about pale colours--which will not help). And not a single light is on. That’s when I feel like I need to give people permission to turn a light on, certainly in the darkest corners anyways.

Years ago, I lived in one of those box apartments, with windows only at the front of the living room and bedroom (with an overhanging balcony) . At the back was the dining room, right next to the walk-through kitchen where I had a floor lamp. The first thing I would do when I walked in, was turn this light on because it gave the illusion of having a window in that corner. It was on all day, anytime I was home.

So please, especially in the winter, do yourself a favour and keep a light on in the darkest corner of your house! Trust me, it will make you feel happy!

If you would like your home to fill you with happiness every time you walk in, contact me for on-line or in-person consultations.
